The coastal summer school will take place on Hiddensee island in the village Kloster at the Biological Station of the University of Greifswald. Hiddensee is an island in the Baltic Sea, located west of Germany's largest island, Rügen.

Hiddensee island is accessible only by ferry, either from Stralsund or from the isle of Rügen (Schaprode). Stralsund can be reached by train from Hamburg or from Berlin main station within about 3h. For details see: www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml
When you have reached Stralsund by train you can walk from the train station to the harbor (about 25 min) You can also take bus number 6 (goes every 30 min) or a taxi.
Please note that you have to take the ferry to Hiddensee – Kloster.
From the habour Hiddensee – Kloster we will pick you up.
Participants will be accommodated in bungalows with two double rooms per bungalow. Therefore two students have to share one room. Every bungalow is equipped with a bathroom.
Cooking facilities are available in a kitchen bungalow. Lunch will be provided by the organizers of the Summer School. Breakfast and dinner have to be prepared by the student’s themselves. Food for breakfast and dinner will be provided by the organizers of the Summer School.
Infrastructure on the island:
Hiddensee is a car-free island, all transport has to be done by foot, by bike or by horse carriage. There are two small supermarkets and a bakery in Kloster, where you can buy food and drinks. There is a physician and a dentist on the island, but no pharmacy. Please be aware to bring all medication, which you maybe need regularly, with you.
